According to a study from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, about two-thirds of CEOs report feeling lonely at the top. Tough decisions need to be made on a daily basis, often in a vacuum, without input or even much debate from others. The solution – a peer advisory board. At Vistage, we bring together Chief Executives from non-competing firms to help one another solve problems, identify future opportunities, make better decisions and take important actions that accelerate the growth of their businesses.

The power of our Vistage Peer Boards are the result of:

  • Selecting the right peers (membership is by invitation only) – we are careful in selecting members who match our culture and believe in our values for ongoing leadership development and continuous learning
  • Creating a safe environment – we discuss matters that often cannot be discussed with anyone else and we do so in the strictest of confidence
  • Utilizing a professional facilitator – as our Chair, Lori Pedelty guides the monthly meetings to ensure productive discussion and even debates and meets one-on-one with each member between peer group meetings to provide further coaching and accountability
  • Fostering valuable interaction – following proven methodologies for problem solving and issue resolution, peers provide valuable feedback and advice
  • Holding each other accountable – members commit to take action and their peers help hold them accountable through timely follow up about progress which is augmented through the monthly one-on-one coaching sessions

Our Board consists of nine Chief Executives – business owners, founders, Presidents, Managing Partners from a variety of non-competing firms with number of employees ranging from 25 to 1200, including:

  • Investment Banking Firm – Founding principal, member of firm’s Management Committee and head of Chicago office
  • Accounting, Tax & Consulting Firm – Managing Partner, Chicago region, with offices located in Chicago and several suburbs
  • Corporate Law Firm – Partner and member of firm’s Management Committee, located in Chicago
  • Promotional Marketing Firm – Business owner and member of Management Committee, located in Skokie
  • Health Services Firm – Founder/ owner with facilities located in Northbrook, IL and Madison, WI
  • Psycho-analytics Firm – Owner, member of Management Committee and head of Chicago office
  • Architecture Firm – President, located in Chicago
  • IT Consulting Firm – Founder, owner and member of Management Committee, located in Chicago
  • Commercial Bank – Chief Treasury Officer, commercial bank, facilities in Chicago’s north shore suburbs

We will be expanding the Peer Advisory Board to 16-18 members, to include Chief Executives with firms representing family law, insurance, HR consulting/ recruiting services/ executive search, sales consulting, managed services, PR/ advertising/ data analytics, wealth management, manufacturing and health services.
